Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Thomas More Catholic School & Sixth form in Purley.

I believe that a caring environment rooted in gospel values, is fundamental to enabling every single child to realize their full potential, but more importantly that every pupil can be the very best version of themselves.

Our Motto, is Care, Learn, Achieve and it is at the heart of everything that we do. We want our pupils to care about themselves, about others and about the world in which we live. Anyone that visits our school, says it is a happy school and our recent OFSTED inspection said that “pupils who come here feel safe, happy and confident”.

“LesMD photosons and learning” is a key focus at our school. We understand the impact education can have on providing opportunities in the future for our young people and it is important that every classroom experience results in great learning.

At TMCS we are blessed to be a small school with amazing facilities. A swimming pool, 7 science labs, brand new sports hall, gyms, large green spaces for students to play and take part in extracurricular events, sporting competitions and more. We take pride in developing the “whole child” in terms of education and enrichment. We have many clubs and opportunities for pupils to take part in outside of the classroom. We are a small school but we do big things…

We are “International School Award” holders. This award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in global education. Our dedicated staff provide opportunities for young people to gain the cultural understanding and skills they need for life and work in an ever changing world. We are also a “School of Arts & Culture” recipient, presented to us by the Major of Croydon.

Changing schools can be a daunting experience, and if you do choose TMCS, there will be a myriad of professionals who will work with your child to enable them to really achieve. I like to think of the three P’s in our partnership…The pupils, the parents and the professionals. If we all work together on this educational journey then we believe our children can really flourish.

We are a catholic school, but we welcome children and families from all faiths, we are a fully inclusive and diverse education provider. I encourage you to embrace everything that secondary school has to offer, seize every moment, make it count and remember, every journey starts with a single step.
